TOPICS
Your TV commercial needs to promote one of the following 4 Pima County Community Prevention Coalition programs:
1. BeFreePima.com
www.BeFreePima.com is YOUR youth-directed underage drinking and drug prevention Website, where YOUth can volunteer to help create Website pages and features and contribute to youth-to-youth conversations about prevention.
Shoot your 30-second commercial informing youth to do one of the following:
-Visit the website and contribute content like artwork, essays and photos about what they do at school and other youth groups to promote a healthy lifestyle!
-OR tell businesses and individuals that they can support the Website with contributions and sponsorships!
-OR promote membership to the BeFreePima Youth Crew: 12-to-25 year-olds who learn all about the dangers of substance abuse and take part in community projects and special events to promote a healthy lifestyle!
-OR promote membership to the BeFreePima Youth Website Advisory Committee (YWAC) to work on the Website. Youth 15 years and older who join the YWAC will earn certificates and letters of recommendation for their education resumes, and can also get credit for community service!
2. Draw the Line:
Visit the Parents Page on BeFreePima.com and learn about the program that educates adults about preventing underage drinking. Be sure to visit www.DrawYourLine.com to get ideas for your commercial. Your TV spot should talk to parents and other adults about their responsibility!
3. Social Host Ordinance:
Visit the Parents Page on BeFreePima.com and read about the Social Host Ordinance for Tucson and Pima County that warn adults who own a home, apartment buildings and even motels that they are responsible if underage drinking problems happen at their property, even if they are not there! They can get over $2000 in fines and JAIL TIME! Your commercial should talk to adults about their responsibility to make sure their home or other property is a safe place for youth where underage drinking never happens!
4. 837-SAFE:
Click on the 837-SAFE link on the BeFreePima home page, and learn about the anonymous phone list that youth can call (without leaving their name) to report businesses that serve youth alcohol without checking IDs, underage drinking parties that are planned to happen, or places that purposely over serve adults. This phone line can help prevent alcohol related problems before they happen and might even save someone's life. Your commercial should tell youth to call 837-SAFE anonymously to report underage drinking or over serving, helping to save the lives of friends who can get seriously hurt, arrested or even die from underage and over-drinking.
